Nebraska will face Alcorn State for the first time in school history when the two teams meet tomorrow. Alcorn State returns solid production from a team that went 8-22 overall and 7-11 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference last season. The Lady Braves will be led by senior guard Ashton McNichols forward Angelica Wilson-Reid and Jasmine Cunningham.

Huskers win it 83-49 to go to 2-0 for the weekend!

Brandi Jeffery keeps the Huskers in the ballgame with the first 8 points for the Huskers. Alcorn just couldn't miss their three's at the beginning of the game.

I thought the Huskers struggled somewhat on both sides of the ball with Emily on the bench with foul trouble, but after a few minutes seemed to settle into the game and gradually pulled away. Thought the newbies just keep looking better every game. Anya Kalenta playing without the mask showed us some glimpses of what she might be able to get done here. She hit a couple of nice 3 pointers and pulled down some good rebounds.

Jasmine Cincore played some pretty good minutes which was good to see and how can you not like what Natalie Romeo brings to the court in just her second game! Hailie S just missed the double/double finishing with 9 points and 9 boards. We need to get our bigs to finish under the bucket a little bit better.  Rachel is just a stud!

Really be glad when we can finally see what Chandler Smith can do. It's be nice if she could play at Washington State next Wednesday as she'll most likely have quite a bit of family and friends make it to Pullman to see her. Sounds as if she's starting to do a few things at practice. Hope that foot keeps healing so she can get some experience on the court.

They head to Washington St Wednesday and that's going to be a really tough game to come away with the "w"

    4770 was tonight's attendance.

Not a great game, but among the newcomers, I was impressed with Kalenta. Great effort.  Made 2 3s, and you could tell Connie was thrilled.  She plays very hard, is tough, can defend some and rebound.  Not a great player but very serviceable in the post.  Runs the floor OK.  Romeo made some poor decisions shooting the ball, which she heard about from Connie, but plays at high speed and is impressive.   I was impressed with Page's skills.  She wasn't shooting well tonight, but handled it well and looked good offensively.  Her wingspan is ridiculous.  Sister Lanie and mom were watching on.  Simon, Shepherd, and Lanie Page watched the game together.  Washington didn't play tonight, so a redshirt is still a possibility.   Kalenta being ready to go may allow for such a decision.
