Huskers Close Home Stand with San Jose State

The Nebraska women’s basketball team wraps up its three-game home stand by taking on San Jose State Friday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Tip-off between the Huskers (3-6) and the Spartans (2-7) is set for 7 p.m

Sophomore Jessica Shepard continues to lead the Huskers at the offensive end, averaging 18.1 points and 10.8 rebounds per contest after notching her fourth double-double of the season and 14th of her 40-game career with 23 points and a season-high 16 rebounds in Tuesday’s loss to Drake.

The 6-4 forward scored 22 points in the second half, but Nebraska relinquished a 33-32 halftime lead in the 84-70 setback to a Bulldog team picked to win the Missouri Valley Conference in preseason voting. It was the 20th 20-point scoring performance of Shepard’s career.

Nebraska will try to snap a five-game losing streak when the Huskers face San Jose State. NU has lost two games to Pac-12 foes (California, 7-0; Washington State, 5-3) and two more to ACC opponents (Virginia Tech, 8-0; Virginia, 6-2) and the fifth game to Drake (4-3) on Tuesday night. Those five opponents have a combined record of 30-8.

Through Tuesday’s games, Nebraska’s first nine opponents owned a combined mark of 50-23, with all nine carrying a .500 or better record. Nebraska’s strength of schedule was No. 17 nationally according to RPIratings.com on Wednesday.

She was a two-year starter at Weber State before transferring to San Jose State.
Senior Jasmine Smith, a 6-0 senior center, ranks second on the team in scoring with 8.8 points per game while adding a team-best 7.1 rebounds per contest.

This is another small team we're going up against, that said, it's imperative that we control the boards on both ends of the court. Another focus is that the Huskers have got to make better passes. And shore up the defense in the paint. Drake scored a mesmerizing 42 points in the paints last Tuesday, I can't remember the last time we gave up that many points in the paint.

for any that might have more tech knowledge than i do (which wouldn't take much, btw). this would be in regards to wbb/sportsnightly/wvb/mbb/fb, etc being broadcast over the internet. when i listen to huskers.com on my iPhone, it doesn't take long when the iPhone starts "dropping" the broadcast and i have to tap the "stop/listen" quite frequently to get back to listening----and, i do mean quite frequently. now, when i go over to the tunein app and listen to the husker sports network there-------i have no problem. just curious why i might have such a problem with huskers.com?

    LET'ER RIP HUSKER VB!!! GBR!

I don't think that it's on your end. I listen to Huskers.com at home and the network seems to buffer quote a bit.

Thanks for bringing that up Whoop.  :)   I've had the same problem with Huskers.com (although maybe not as frequently as you).  I thought maybe it was just my 'Droid' phone but seems like it affect the I-phone too.   I'll have to look into the tunein ap.  ^_^

So much for Havers having a big game. Jensen must be feeling good bout her shot, she is calling for the ball a lot and grab the ball with two hands on rebounds

I counted 5 times when we were on offense...where all 5 of our players were standing still, not moving at all. ...When we had the ball ! No wonder we can't score.

What did we have ....10 turnovers. No excuse for that any more. We just do not hardly ever drive to the basket.....but when we do we score much of the time.

Yes, feed Jensen .......she's playing real well. ....so are a couple of others.

Come on girls......we can win this !!!

Much better 2nd half. Haven't seen any stats...but the shooting seemed pretty good for the night. They had no answer for Jess.

Our defense got better, our offense too.  Lot's of unnecessary fouls, and obviously turnovers. But we looked better as the game went on. Just hope we can not always start so slow.

The freshmen looked more comfortable. Whitish and Jensen especially, are good ball handlers. Have good BBall court IQ, as well as Nicea obviously.

Lady Spartans live (or die) by the three.  Lady Huskers shine in 83-61, 22 point victory over San Jose State,  Jess Shepard deadly under and around the basket in the 2nd Half.

Here are the SJS Game Stats (but I can't figure out how to embed them )

maybe you already are aware of this, but, i don't believe the husker network on the tunein app carries husker wbb----if sports nightly is on, that is what you will receive. i would have to do some research to see if any stations that carry husker wbb are also on the tunein app. i was too lazy to check during the game tonight. -_-

Alway's good to see a victory in PBA no matter who we're playing! Good win for the Huskers confidence going forward. Started out kinda slow but once we got the right line up in there they started to gel and take control. Although San Jose wasn't as good as some of the competition we've faced this year, every player on our bench got some quality minutes. Still don't like how the offense gets stagnate at times with no movement to get open, and too much dribbling. 26 turnovers though, still way too many!

I thought Emily Wood came out and gave us some really good minutes for the time she was out there. Really liked her hustle tonight.

What more can one say about Nicea! She just keeps getting better and better every game. She's really starting to find her shot and crashes the boards like a boss!

B107.3 in Lincoln carries the game, but I don't know if the online stream would be different.

It is really annoying that Sports Nightly preempts WBB on TuneIn. No respect for the program.
