Here's a pretty good article on this atrocity: http://journalstar.com/sports/nu-notes-miles-disappointed-in-selfish-play-repeat-errors/article_61beb4be-f44c-5b1c-a0a7-55a8ca757c95.html

“It’s either we don’t know or we don’t care. That’s a pretty harsh reality,” he [Coach Miles] said. “That’s not winning basketball.”

I've just never understood how in 4 years under Miles, we've been a team that struggles with a press and we've been AWFUL against any type of zone, every single year.  Last night wasn't even a tough press to break.  It was a soft 2-2-1.  The only time they put pressure was when they would faceguard, and I just kept seeing flashes of the Ohio State loss in the B1G tourney 2 years ago when we couldn't break the press even once.

Then you get to our zone offense.  We rarely look to get the ball to the short corner or to the high post.  I understand that we still don't have a ton of shooters on this team, but we have capable shooters for sure.  Andrew has struggled from the arc more than I thought he would this year (and maybe that's on Miles and the staff for hyping him up so much).  Shavon is a capable shooter, although not great.  Tai can knock them down, Glynn can knock them down, Benny hits one every once in awhile.  This team is very capable of beating zone defenses but it just seems like Miles never puts us in the right situation to beat a zone.

Lastly,  why the hell is Benny getting 22 minutes in that game? 0-4 from the field, 1 rebound, 3 fouls, 2 points, 1 assist, 3 turnovers. Someone explain that stat line to me?  These are pretty consistent numbers for him recently.  I understand not everyone on this board is a stats guy, and stats aren't everything, but stats prove this point.  Benny provided no spark last night.  I just don't get it

I have a feeling that the analytics will tell the story for Miles & Co. Benny will go back to being Energizer Benny, as a spark-plug off the bench. If Benny can't handle that role, then it's on him! The numbers prove that he isn't helping the team all that much lately. Please, Timmy, don't let the facts get in the way of a good story, though. Sheesh.

Samford hit 8 three pointers. 6 of those were made by guys Shields was guarding, all after penetration and a kickout or a kickout and an extra pass or two - when he sees penetration he will always help out and leave a guy wide open. That includes the two late in the game, both times when the lead got cut to five - in other words that's what they went to when they needed it, they thought it would be there and it was. It's far from the first game that it's been happening, I'm sure it's in every teams scouting report.
