2017 PF/C Bruno Fernando -> Maryland

Bruno Fernando, a native of Angolo, Africa, missed the first couple of days of Nike Peach Jam due to summer school obligations. But once the 6-foot-10 big man showed up, he had his coming out party for E1T1 against Team CP3 in the first round of the playoffs. He played physical, tough and stayed active in the paint. He flashed good hands, made a mid-range jump shot and rebounded both in and out of his area. With his pure size and tools on both ends of the floor, college coaches were buzzing about the available post player and they’ll surely be tracking him through the July evaluation periods and at Montverde next season.

I think you may have stumbled upon why there is not more interest in the kid at this point....

Burno jokes aside, this kid is taking a look at UCF.  He's still apparently under the radar with coaches.  But look what this guy has to say about him:

It's his 1st year in America, that's probably why he hasn't been on everyone's radar. Bruno is from Angola, Africa.

"1st year in America" from Angola might raise some eligibility concerns.

Would this be a foreigner schnapps-thing too? Or is that limited to Jucos?

He's young enough to be a 2017 recruit but he's already a physical specimen.  If what you're looking for is a rebounding shot blocker/rim protector, he's the complete package.  You're probably not going to try to dump passes down to him in the low blocks so that he can go to work with his back to the basket, but if you have a point who can penetrate and dish, he's certainly capable of catching the ball and dunking it.

Raw as sashimi.  That's funny.  :)

Actually, the free throw thing I think was just due to the fact that he's a fiery player.  You can just see it in his manner that he's got a little bit of swagger.  It showed up in other plays too.  And I think you want a big man locking down the middle who has a bit of a mean streak to him.

Until he's committed somewhere else or for sure isn't eligible or whatever, I'll continue to look at this guy as long as we still have scholarships available.  This dude is an athletic freak in the paint.  That right there is enough to be intrigued.

Heard we'll be announcing a transfer by the end of this month.

Do you know which type? Transfer and sit guy like the Miami guard or immediately eligible grad transfer or JUCO?

Sorry, I was not told a name or eligibility status for next year. It was 2nd hand but should be fairly reliable. Wish I could share more, just don't have it to share.
