Hey everyone! Longtime lurker here (and on the old HHC site), first time poster.  As I read through all the posts discussing the team's potential for next year I got to thinking about the University's new radio contract and began to wonder if that will effect Kent's position as the voice of Nebrasketball.  Anyone know?

I really enjoy him as the play by play guy and respect him for brining his enthuiasm (and sometimes homerism) every game even in the many down years we've had. It feels to me like he's been along for the highs and lows of this program  as much or more than as any fan or media member I know.  I hope when the program finally gets that elusive NCAA tournament win, he's still behind the mike!

There is no broadcaster I'd rather listen to in the country than Kent.  The enthusiasm he brings with every game is phenomenal.  Many road games, I choose to turn the tv down and use Kent and Matt as the commentary.  Nebraska basketball isn't the same without those two.  Win or loss, I listen to every pregame and every postgame.  Love both of you guys and wouldn't have it any other way.  Thanks guys!

I appreciate all of you.  Love HHC!

GOT IT!!!!

I love it when they used to use Pavelka on the pregame video for stating lineups.  It gave me chills when there was a pause and then all you heard was Kent yelling "GOT IT".  Wish they would go back to using that for video instead of the lame ones they do now.

Before the age of every game on tv and the internet and FM radio, I had to listen to either KFAB or KRGI AM stations. while they would be fading in and out at key moment of the game. Kent had you on the edge of your seat just waiting on the Huskers to make a great play. His side kick back then was Gary Saddlemeier( hope I spelled that right) and Gary would always keep Kent in check. Then the time that the Huskers beat Mizzo in Columbia when they where #1Kent said he was ducking from the stuff being at him and the team. Jim Bains was one of the refs I can't remember the other/s. He has given us all great memories through the years.

I'm a newcomer (only since Miles was hired)  but quickly picked up on the "GOT IT."  It's really infectious!  Pavelka does a great job of 'painting a picture' of what's happening on the court;  TV announcers pale by comparison.

I'd much rather listen to radio announcers than the TV, even if they're 15 sec or so ahead of the video (Hey, that way I know in advance if he 'Got It' or not  ;) )

Really like Matt Davison's commentary too ('Oh My Goodness; I just don't know What a foul is anymore').  They make a great duo!

Oh come on, Misery fans are some of the finest in the land (and yes I have my tongue buried as deep into my cheek as I can)

I want my basketball radio play-by-play announcer to be invested in the outcome...and Kent is invested.  Both Kent and Matt mirror my emotions during a game.  I am at every home game, but when the team is on the road, I will typically listen to Kent and Matt while watching the action on TV...

Kent is the kind of announcer that needs to be a home team announcer. He is vested in the outcome, he travels with these kids so he kind of gets to know them so I am sure lives and dies with each game even more than most of us.

That is why I like, no want my home team announcer to love my team and be a very big homer.

Good topic and welcome silent1.

I love Kent too.

I just wish there was a longer post game show.  I would love for IMG (or even someone else ala 1620 with Big Red over-reaction) to have a post post game show that goes into a little more detail.

KNTK did an extended post game show this year, usually lasted about an hour or so after KFAB signed off.
