NCAA Bracket Preview Show

#1 overall Virginia

2 Villanova

3 Xavier (in Omaha region)

4 Purdue

5 Auburn (in Omaha)

6 Kansas

7 Duke

8 Cincinnati

Lots of losses among those top 8 the past week, especially in the top 4 - Virginia & Villanova both had bad home losses this week & Purdue lost twice

Xavier nearly lost too yesterday - but they didn't :D

Going to be a lot of unhappy scalpers if KU doesn't end up in Omaha

Midwest seeds of note (will go to Omaha for Sweet 16):

10 TCU

11 Mid Tenn St

12 Loyola-Chi

6 Wichita

5 Rh Island

7 Seton Hall

8 Alabama

9 Fla St

No Huskers - no surprise - we still have work to do

Encouraging that the B1G received some nice seeds though. That hopefully bodes well for us when the real field comes out in a month.

Last year, this early unveiling correctly predicted 15 of the top 16 seeds.

No mention of last 4 in, etc.

Rasmussen says one of the biggest factors for the committee this year will be wins away from home

And KU is closer to a #1 seed than a #3, since they're 6th overall. Seems odd the way they've been playing.

Realtime RPI rankings vs Top 16 seeds

1 Virginia (RPI 1)

2 Villanova (RPI 3)

3 Xavier (RPI 2)

4 Purdue (RPI 11)

5 Auburn (RPI 8)

6 Kansas (RPI 7)

7 Duke (RPI 9)

8 Cincy (RPI 10)

9 Clemson (RPI 4)

10 Tex Tech (RPI 12)

11 Mich St (RPI 14)

12 N Carolina (RPI 6)

13 Tennessee (RPI 13)

14 Ohio St (RPI 16)

15 Arizona (RPI 18)

16 Oklahoma (RPI 21)

Not in Top 16

Rh Island RPI 5

Nevada RPI 15

Texas A&M RPI 17

Wich St RPI 19

Kentucky RPI 20

All 3 B1G teams received seeds above their RPI slot line, which is good news for NU.

We're at 54 RPI today. But this probably means NCAA will treat it 3-6 spots better, based on the top of the league.

meh. we keep winning, we're in. the reality is that I think right now we're a better basketball team objectively than Michigan. I trust that the committee will see it that way when this is over.

just keep beating who we should and we're fine. and one thing this team has done is beat the teams it should. and that bodes well for us. we don't upset anyone, really. but we don't get upset, either. and that favors us right now.

Edit: one thing that I hope we learned: no more tournaments where the losers bracket is appalling. honestly, if you want to look at the loss that probably hurt us most, it was the damned UCF game, because that loser's bracket dropped us like a rock. Or at least it seems that way.
