Tuesday's Games of Interest:

Tennessee/Mississippi State - knock off MSU
Florida/Alabama - tough one, going with Florida
Missouri/Vanderbilt - need Vandy
Oklahoma State/Iowa State - need ISU to win
Akron/Buffalo - get the final knockout on Buffalo
Vermont/Maine - just beat Vermont already
Miami/North Carolina - may not matter, but beating Miami wouldn't hurt
Auburn/Arkansas - need Auburn
DePaul/Creighton - sure.
Oklahoma/Baylor - flipping and going with OU on this one due to last games' results
Kansas State/TCU - knock off KSU
Davidson/St. Bonaventure - need some Steph Curry magic
Boise State/San Diego State - knock off BSU

Wednesday's Games of Interest:

Big Ten Tourney: Illinois/Iowa - might as well improve our worst loss
Providence/Xavier - teams keep trying to knock Providence down
LSU/South Carolina - a USC win would help muffle conversations
Pittsburgh/Notre Dame - is this even worth it?
Ole Miss/Kentucky - again, probably not worth it
Big Ten Tourney: Rutgers/Minnesota - played both twice; improve Minnesota
Villanova/Seton Hall - cannot have a Seton Hall win here
Texas A&M/Georgia - still convinced that UGA is out
Florida State/Clemson - maybe a Clemson win will help is FSU falters in the conference tournament?
Syracuse/Boston College - huge win/win
Butler/St. John's - another huge win/win
Eastern Illinois/Tennessee State - RPI boost

The one positive from having our tournament a week early is no other games will be going on Friday at 1:30 in the afternoon.   We should have the committee's full attention.

Actually, the Missouri Valley #1 vs. #8/#9 and then #4 vs. #5 matchups will be during that time

But really, Loyola-Chicago at noon CST might get their attention. Let's hope that game is more than wrapped up when we start playing.

Yet has 5 quadrant 1 wins due to the phony quadrant system.

5-10 in Quadrant 1

2-2 at home

2-6 away

1-2 neutral

Split home/away with TCU and Texas Tech.

To their credit though, their highest away RPI opponent is 34 and highest overall Quadrant 1 is 35. That's pretty top heavy in that quadrant.

So with the quadrant system, you want to get your non-conference RPI really high so that way you can beat up on each other and give each other quadrant 1wins?

That's why it was so bad for the Big Ten getting embarrassed in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and also losing the Gavitt Games really hurt our entire conference perception. I think a lot of pundits made up their minds about some conferences as early as December.

Just looked.  With the quadrant system,'

Illinois win over Us at Illinois, Purdue's win over Louisville at home, Purdue's win over Indiana on the road, Western Kentucky's win on the road at Marshall, and Western Kentucky's win over Old Dominion at home are all counted the same.

However, Western Kentucky beating Old Dominion on the road is better than every single one of those wins?  Literally a win at Old Dominion this year under the quadrant system is better than our wins at Northwestern, Rutgers, Minnesota, and Wisconsin!

I misremembered that. But it's hard to forget how bad the conference looked in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

If I recall, it was something like 3-11 with Purdue, Nebraska, and Michigan State only winning.

What? That's been the goal for every conference every year even before the quadrant system. Improve your RPI for the conference. If it weren't for the quadrant system we'd have literally only 3 top 100 wins. So which do you think honestly looks worse?

The Big 12 is a deep league but they don't have any great teams. Even if we get snubbed and Big10 only were to get 4 teams in I'd put money down that the Big 12 won't get more teams to the sweet 16.  There's no way they should have a 7-11 team getting in.

I will say this though, how great can a league be, if the same team can win the conference championship 12 or 13 years straight?  Especially this year, KU simply does not have high quality depth, yet they still win the conference???
