Big day today. LET'S GET TO WORK!

Saturday's Games of Interest:

Michigan/Maryland - going with the Tier 1 win; #4 seed? we need to beat PSU anyway
Marquette/DePaul - need DePaul to step it up again
Providence/Georgetown - need Georgetown
Seton Hall/St. John's - win/win situation here
Baylor/TCU - tough one, but I think I'm going with TCU here
Louisville/Virginia Tech - another tough one, might go with VaTech
Boston College/Miami - win/win
LSU/Georgia - UGA is likely more than out of the dance
Oklahoma State/Texas - down with Texas
Illinois State/Loyola-Chicago - somebody's gotta knock off L-C
Villanova/Creighton - RPI, RIP, whatever
USC/Utah - going with the better of the bad options
Notre Dame/Wake Forest - ND should be done, but just in case
South Carolina/Mississippi State - knock off MSU
Ohio/Buffalo - knock off the RPI magicians
Texas A&M/Vanderbilt - need Vandy
Northern Colorado/North Dakota - RPI boost
Delaware State/Howard - will we see a winning streak from DSU???
Kansas/Texas Tech - sign. whatever.
SIU-Edwardsville/Eastern Illinois - RPI boost
Washington/California - could really use some help from Cal
Syracuse/Duke - knockout punch?
Arkansas/Alabama - tough one, might go with Alabama
Kansas State/Oklahoma - 7-game losing streak anyone? they're still in unfortunately
UAB/Middle Tennessee - go UAB
South Dakota State/Fort Wayne - don't need SDSU getting an at-large bid
Vermont/Stony Brook - somebody needs to beat Vermont
North Texas/Florida Atlantic - RPI boost
Old Dominion/Western Kentucky - beat WKU for good measure
Arizona State/Oregon State - why not go for OSU?
St. Bonaventure/VCU - beat the Bonnies
Louisiana Tech/UT San Antonio - RPI boost
Louisiana/South Alabama - somebody knock off Louisiana
Missouri/Kentucky - not sure it matters at this point, so beat UK
Auburn/Florida - may not matter, but going for Auburn
UMKC/New Mexico State - beat NMSU
Long Beach State/CS Fullerton - RPI boost
Arizona/Oregon - just for good measure

Sunday's Games of Interest:

Michigan State/Wisconsin - knock MSU to #2; if that's out of the question then go UW

UCF/Temple - RPI boost

Furman/East Tennessee State - knock off ETSU

Marist/Canisius - as if we didn't get enough Marist hoops in life

Illinois/Rutgers - going with Illinois since it was such a bad loss

UCLA/Colorado - need some help from CU

Penn State/Nebraska - no brainer

Florida State/NC State - knock off NC State

The most fascinating game today is going to be the Arizona-Oregon game.  Obviously the allegations against Sean Miller are damning and what happens today preceding Arizona's game is going to be telling.  I think there is a good chance that Arizona terminates Miller before the game and deem Ayton ineligible.  In looking at some Arizona message boards there is a growing sentiment that Arizona should immediately clean house and self inflict a postseason ban this year and next year to potentially soften the impact of the NCAA hammer that will be dropped.   The next several days are going to be extremely interesting.

I read on another thread a question about whether the selection committee will consider allegations against certain schools during its discussions.  I'm not getting my hopes up for this.  The selection committee is not going to be the judge, jury and executioner in any of these cases.  Hell, the NCAA has a hard enough time itself enforcing its rules and handing out punishment in an expeditious manner.  So, expecting the committee to play this role is likely just a pipe dream.  I'm guessing certain leaders at the NCAA are much more disappointed not in the alleged cheating but in the timing of this news getting out now prior to their annual cash cow getting started.

I am curious as to the timing of the release of this also. It's been 5-6 months since the initial report came out. But guessing someone has there reason for the timing. Maybe need to let this have its own thread rather than taking over this one.

Highly paid paper pushers are mad that a guy took 1.4% of what he’s worth on the open market.

While that may be true, it’s still cheating right now.  Until they would start paying athletes, it’s still cheating.  Sorry, but when/if the conversation about paying athletes does come up, it won’t be anywhere near 100K either.  Way too many athletes and with title 9, they’ll have to pay everyone the same.  Which presents a problem for most all women’s sports because they do not pay for themselves.

Do I think athletes should get paid?  Yes probably a little bit.  100K?  Certainly not.
