Just to close the loop. 3-1 now after betting Washington State 5-3.

Defense A+ (I believe we had just one error and if that is correct, that is impressive - and I believe that was a throwing error.)

Pitching B- (need to stay consistent throughout entire rotation.)  We were good, especially for early season games.  We should be excited though.

Hitting D+ (with a batting average at the Mendoza line is never good)  I will give credit though because we did have some timely hits.

Intangibles B - A whole light is right with this team at first glance.  We need to improve exponentially.

Robbie Palkert is out for the season.  My goodness it seems like we never catch a break with Pitchers.

Hard to overcome.  Hopefully someone will step up.

Best hope is that when Eddins and Engelken come back they come back strong.   We are going to have a heckuva time finding any one to get outs in the midweek games.

Yep. Palkart is very good.  On a side not...I feel pretty darn good about our starting rotation.  They are going to carry the load until someone(hopefully) emerges in the pen.

Well a bullpen day, against the #2 team in the country throwing the best pitcher in the country seems like a recipe for disaster.......we will see.

Now throwing a freshman who hasn't played before? Seems like the strategy was to concede this game before it started.

I don't mind it. The chances of Alvarado going up against Heimlich and getting a W were really slim. You are gonna find out a lot about these new arms against a really good lineup which will help you later in the season.

Yeah we could probably have thrown Chris Sale and still lost. Hopefully we can get a hit off Heimlich.

Playing to go 3-1 or 2-2 instead of 1-3 or 2-2 for the weekend.  Not a bad strategy in the long run...  It was going to take some hits no matter who was throwing today.  And we aren't really getting any.

I could be wrong but I doubt it was we didn't want to waste our best pitcher vs Heimlich.  Siliva is pretty strict in regards to keeping his pitchers on schedule.  So, it only makes sense that we now roll with our regular starting staff the rest of the weekend.

Hitting .182 as a team and .167 with runners in scoring position this young season. This has been what has plagued us since Coach Bolt left, really hope we don't see this all season.

The good news...it is early and the bats will surely get hotter.

 

The bad news...injuries to our pitching staff are taking a major toll. 

 

Good news...OSU is one of the best in the country, we won't see another team with much more talent.

2-2 on the weekend. 2-0 against Utah, but 0-2 against Oregon State.

Not a terrible weekend.  Really would have liked 3-1 but will take 2-2 in a heart beat.
