Wisconsin (9-8) vs. Nebraska (11-6) Game Thread

We did not play well offensively.  (Kind of tough when the entire Wisconsin team spends more time on the ground than standing up from all the flopping they do).  We took a bunch of terrible shots.  We did miss some good open shots though.

I don't think Wisconsin is a great offense, but we did play pretty well on defense.

Didn't play the best game, but did get a Win.

If I recall, Michigan is the last remaining team we have yet to beat in the Big Ten.

Interesting.  Re-ranking them in terms of the number of times we have played them you get the following.  I have highlighted teams we have a .500 or better record against in green.  Everyone below .500 in red.  Some notes...

1.  The team we have done the best against... we have played the least.

2.  The team we have done the 2nd worst against... we have played the most.

3.  We have played 9 teams double or more than double the amount of times we have played Rutgers or Maryland.

4.  I realize that the Big 10 tournament has something to do with this a little bit, but how are these schedules made!?!?  Shouldn't it be a little more equal?

  • Ohio State- 12
  • Penn State- 12
  • Purdue- 11
  • Wisconsin- 11
  • Minnesota- 10
  • Northwestern- 10
  • Illinois- 10
  • Michigan State- 10
  • Iowa- 10
  • Indiana- 8
  • Michigan- 8
  • Rutgers 5
  • Maryland- 5

Rutgers and Maryland weren't in the league when we joined, so they should be the teams we've played the least. There's no surprise in that.

The 20-game conference schedule means that we get home-away every year with seven teams and single-plays against six teams. Of those seven teams, it seems pretty reasonable to think we could get annual home-away games with Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Northwestern, with the others rotating in and out of that group.

I don't know if the conference has any plans for that sort of rotation, but it would be nice to see more of the "Western" teams on our schedule, especially Iowa and Minnesota. They're naturals. (And the added bonus of seeing the Huskers here in IC every year.)

May as well make it 3-0 against the bottom 4 tonight.
