Didn't intend to infer that it did. By writing "yet we're supposed to be the second-worst team," I meant simply that we have an even steeper hill to climb.

Tough schedule + bad team (allegedly) = Bad results.

Oh man, you just triggered one of my biggest pet peeves.  Using "infer" when you mean "imply" and vice versa.

I inferred that you were implying that you acted in commercials.

I was going to ask if you knew "Johnny" from the old "I love you, man" Bud Light commercials.

True story: I was an extra in "Terms of Endearment" when it was filmed in Lincoln. Unfortunately, I was left on the cutting room floor.

Northwestern just lost to Texas Tech 85-49 (at home). That will drop them in KenPom a loooooooooot.

Actually, it was a neutral site game at the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut...the Hall of Fame Tip Off tournament, Boston College is playing in it too.

I think Texas Tech might be pretty good this year, but yeah a 36 point loss is probably going to knock you out of the top 25.  KenPom might be a little more forgiving, though, since he had them lower to begin with, and Tech is rated higher in KenPom.

Ah, I didn't realize it was neutral. Agreed that it won't be quite as bad then.

Now, my tongue is firmly in my cheek, but does Northwestern's loss on a neutral site make them a horrible team?

One could argue that all of Northwestern's "Home" games could be considered "Neutral" games this year since they're playing all their home games out in Rosemont.

By no means should we look at them as a horrible team.  But a few more non-con embarrassments like today and Collins may have his hands full getting his guys back to the tourney.

Looking forward to getting the MTE behind us on the schedule, it's one of the more annoying things I have to do each time I update the KenPom rankings early on in the season. As a side note to this, UCF is considered a Semi-Away game and is considered a Tier B matchup for us.  St. John's was a Tier A game.

If our squad was a little saltier, I'd be all in favor of a tough Non-conference schedule, ala' what Cook and Erstad always do. The Basketball program isn't where those two are though, and I hope that upcoming stretch of highly ranked teams doesn't knock the wind out of our sails. Hopefully I'm wrong, we can win this thing in Orlando, get a "W" in Omaha, and see what happens with KU and the start of B1G play.

Handy, I assume you belong to your local Optimist club.

From your lips to God's ears!

Well I've seen Creighton, KU, Goldy & the Spartans all play on the television, and their collective big men scare the HELL out of me, especially MSU & MN. We're going to need Doobie and Isaac  to have some MAN sized games in order to eek out a win or two(?) I expect nothing out of Jordy until he proves otherwise.
