A little off topic and out of the blue but im bored waiting for sports to start up again.

I would like to propose realignment for the conferences that focuses on geography, blue blood, and upstart programs.

-5 conferences of two eight team divisions

-12 regular season games: 7 division games, 3 crossover games, 2 non conf games against the other 4 conferences

-5 conference championship games. Each winner is an AQ playoff qualifier for playoffs

-8 team playoff: five conf champions and three wildcards

-8 additional bowl games to reward teams for good seasons

ACC

Atlantic: Penn State, Pitt, Navy, Maryland, Syracuse, Boston College, Rutgers, Connecticut

Coastal: Virginia Tech, West Virginia, NC State, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke, Virginia, East Carolina

Big 12

North: K State, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Colorado St, Iowa St, Kansas

South: Oklahoma, Texas, OK State, TCU, Texas A&M, Baylor, Houston, Texas Tech

Big Ten

East: Ohio St, Michigan, Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan St, Toledo, Ohio, Cincinnati

West: Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Minnesota, Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Northern Illinois

Pacific

North: Washington, Oregon, Washington St, Boise St, Utah, BYU, Oregon St, Neveda

South: USC, Stanford, UCLA, Arizona St, San Diego St, Arizona, Cal, Hawaii

SEC

East: Florida St, Clemson, Georgia, Florida, Miami, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, UCF

West: Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas, Miss St, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt

I have always thought that there could be districts like in high school where you play teams close and then the top team or top two would go into a playoff for the national title.

Bowl games would be for the teams who don't make it or as teams loose they could be asked to different bowl games.

Just something diffent kind of like your idea.  Gets old teams back to playing each other, because no conferences.

Good try...looks sort of good on paper...but, ain't going to happen in my lifetime.

Definetly not gonna happen ever. I just wish it would. Would love for things to be more regional and to cut down on D1 teams. Seems like every year more and more schools are joining.

Id like to see D1 just be P5 schools and the top of the group 5 schools.
