I feel like erstad has done a decent job given how bad of a baseball conference the B1G is. We just need to keep making regionals, and eventually things will click at the right time.

Sounds good.  Hope you're right.  At least if you keep making regionals, you will be somewhat relevant as a program, which will hopefully build upward.

This year's team had a good pitching staff, and good to great fielders.  They did not have enough bats.  They also had no bench.  Nobody you could feel comfortable playing to give a guy slumping a day off.  Need to build depth.  The line-up doesn't look very good.

C - Wilkening

1B - Roskam

2B - Altavilla/Mike Waldron

3B - Altavilla / Mike Waldron

SS - Croenbold

LF - Hagge/Cole Klemke (if he's still on the team)

CF - Meyers (don't think he will get drafted high enough to leave)

RF - Acker

DH - Schreiber  (if he doesn't go pro)

I think Alvarado is gone, and Schreiber is 50/50.  McSteen will be a dark horse draft pick. (I thought I heard he completed his 3rd year and is draft eligible) Lefthanded, and throws in the low 90's with a decent breaking ball.

Schreiber sure sounded like he's gone after the game.

You're right, next year doesn't look too good.

We were scrappy this year, but virtually every team we played looked better getting off the bus.  Darin better get recruiting figured out or we'l be under -achieving here for a long time.

We better hope we have some instant impact players coming in because that lineup is very mediocre on paper. Add in the fact that Schreiber is probably gone. I expect to lose Hoensee and Alvarado as well.  Erstad can talk about grinding out at bats and out competing tell he's blue in the face but until he starts filling up the roster with talent this is who we are.

We need something that resembles an offensive strategy. We dont hit for power, we don't run on teams, we don't sacrifice runners over. We rely on stringing together singles - which we dont do well.

I would agree with this as there never seems to be a set reason on when and why we do things.  Honestly, with the lineup we had this year and last year, I feel like we should have been the team that tries to scratch out a run an inning.  We were pretty fast in some areas.

I know some people hate bunting, but I am thinking that we should have been "that" team.  It isn't because I necessarily think bunting is the best strategy, but it is because bunting, I feel, was the best strategy for THIS team.

However, we didn't really do that.  We would bunt in one situation, but not bunt in the same situation a few innings later.  This is something that I think needs to get figured out.  I do not care what our identity is, but find one.  This team wasn't going to hit for power, but we could have bunted/stole more.

Predictions just for shits and giggles. Really want Davidson or Sam Houston to make it for Omaha to get behind. Also all of Omaha is cheering against Vandy and that dbag that whistles the entire game.

Cool story about how Sam Houston St. uses a unique offensive strategy. SHSU bunts (anywhere and anytime) and run like wild. These are the things Erstad should be thinking about this offseason. Their coach has a strategy, he is going to recruit to it, and he is going to perfect how to coach it. You're not gonna out power Wake Forest (100 HR), you're not gonna spray it around the yard better than Virginia (.321 BA) and your not gonna have the pitching staff of Oregon St or Louisville (sub 3.00 ERA). Our pitching staff under Silva has been good enough, hell we have a better team ERA than 7 of the teams remaining. Find a way to scratch across runs and put pressure on defenses and an Erstad team could make their way to the Supers and beyond. (End rant.)

100 percent agree.said it earlier... We should be a team that tries to scratch across 1 run an inning.  9 per game wins a lot of games.
