Good for her!

She turned down a volleyball scholarship to Ohio State when she chose to play for the Huskers! Hope she makes it. I see where a current volleyball player has decided to transfer to UMKC so they could find room for her.

Do you suppose volley ball can exchange to BBall..... a 6-3 leaper.....for Allie ?? ^_^

Allie hasn't played VB for several years.....wonder if she can get up to speed on a nationally ranked team ? But they have made apparently made room for her possibility, so VB must know something.

A long shot, no doubt. Cook said she moves sideways very well.  She doesn't move  well vertically or "upward" (polite for "can't jump").   Working as a middle.

Even is she is just a  practice player man,  You know you can't coach 6'5".  It couldn't hurt.

Former Husker basketball player Allie Havers is eager to ace her second sport

Quote

Havers was friends with several members of the volleyball team, and mentioned to Keith Zimmer, the associate athletic director for life skills, that she could see giving volleyball a try. Zimmer whispered the idea to Cook, and after the basketball season ended, Cook and Havers set up a meeting.

“We said, ‘OK, let’s try it this spring and see how it goes,’” Cook said.

“She’s super coachable,” Cook said of Havers. “You tell her something, and she gets it. She moves really well side to side. She doesn’t move so well up. And her arm swing is a little rusty, which is understandable, but it’s actually really improving. I think she does a lot of really good things, but the big thing is she’s an athlete.”

“She’s going to have to work all summer. She’ll have to be in here every day and work our camps,” Cook said. “But, based on what I’ve seen so far, her improvement is really good. She’s the most improved player every day.”

Go get em' Allie!!
