Cazzie22
Look what he did at Stephen F Austin. The guy can coach.
royalfan
He can coach offense. And Illinois will have the athletes to be good on defense if they try. League of great coaches got a touch better yet. Miles needs to amp up his X and O game somehow. Oklahoma St. had the most efficient offense in the nation according to some metrics. jimmykc
Guess we'll see. I'm not sure he is much of an upgrade from Groce.
Chuck Taylor
For those who might have wondered: No, he was not at WI while Molinari was.

Lots of guys have done well at mid-majors and struggled to win consistently at a high major school.

John Groce did...howd he do at Illinois? I think Underwood is a good coach. Point is....it's not a guarantee Edited March 19, 2017 by nustudent No Place Like the Vault

Sure, and I'd rather have the winning powerball than have a coach go 96-75. Of course, neither of our comments has anything to do with what was being discussed. Cazzie22
Underwood is taking the money. Oklahoma State had him on the cheap last season. Can he get Chicago kids to go down state? If he can, the Illini will win. Bill Self was on the verge of a championship there when KU opened. hhcmatt
swmckewon
Underwood will have the same challenge Weber and Groce had - convincing one-and-done kids who can go and do go to Duke, Kansas and Kentucky to go to Illinois. I don't put him in the Izzo/Beilein class of coach, though.
gobigredbrah
SFA had only been to a tourney once before Underwood got there. What he did there was unprecedented compared to groce at ohio, miles at csu
