Are we still a little shell-shocked from the Pitchford debacle?  I say let him shoot a couple.  Why not?

Pitchford was a stretch 4, not a center. We had Jacobson shooting from 3 earlier and he's still be shooting them if he could get them to fall.

Having your center stand around the three point line is a terrible idea, unless he can make enough of them to cause the man guarding him to vacate the paint, too.  Otherwise that just leaves a shot blocker/rebounder standing under the hoop with no offensive big man to worry about.  Sounds like a recipe for 100 blocked shots and 0 offensive rebounds.  No thanks.

Now if theoretically he could make them at a significant clip (say 38% or above), then maybe you entertain the idea.  It may cause the other team to go small to defend the perimeter, and then you punish them inside.  But they can always just throw zone at you instead and park their big man in the paint, and then we're back to the zero offensive boards/infinite blocked shots scenario.

If it were that easy, then how did Wisconsin make it to the championship game a couple years ago with their three-point shooting center? I think they managed to get some offensive rebounds along the way.

How about this:

Jordy frequently goes to the top of the key to set a pick for a guard.  His defender comes out with him and often leaves Jordy to help prevent a drive by the guard.  If the guard flips the ball back to Jordy at that moment for a three-point shot, Jordy's defender is out of position for a block and out of position for a rebound.  If Jordy's defender sticks with Jordy, the guard has a lane to the basket.
