Huskers Set to Host Northwood in Exhibition Game
A former Husker brings his team to Pinnacle Bank Arena, as the Huskers will face Northwood (Mich.) University in its lone exhibition game. The matchup is set for Tuesday, Nov. 7, with time and broadcast information announced at a later date.

Northwood is coached by former Husker Jeff Rekeweg, who played for Nebraska in 1987 and 1988 under Danny Nee and served as one of the captains for the 1987-88 Huskers. Rekeweg is in his eighth season at Northwood. His teams are accustomed to taking on Big Ten teams in exhibition play, as they faced Michigan State last season and have faced Indiana (2014) and Illinois (2012)

during his tenure at the school.

With today’s announcement, the 2017-18 schedule is finalized as it will feature 31 regular-season games beginning with the regular-season opener on Saturday, Nov. 11. Start times and broadcast information for the upcoming season will be announced at a later date.

I'll bet you a $1 it's not against Iowa St or Marquette

Actually these secret scrimmages can sometimes be kinda like a home and home deal. Since we went up to Ames last year, and the proximity is there, I wouldn't be surprised if we scrimmage the Clones again this year.

Nebraska was set to face ISU in a home-and-home, but I do wonder if that scrimmage in Lincoln was put "on hold" after MJ left Lincoln for Ames. Guess we'll have to wait & see....

While the St. John’s staff doesn’t believe his departure limits the team’s ceiling, it does erase some margin for error. It leaves them with just nine scholarship players, with transfers Mikey Dixon (Quinnipiac) and Sedee Keita (South Carolina) sitting out. The Red Storm have two open scholarships for the upcoming season, but a team source said those are unlikely to be filled so late in the offseason.

St. John’s envisioned using Wilson anywhere from shooting guard to power forward in a speed-ball small lineup. But fellow freshman Bryan Trimble Jr., a physical, 6-foot-3 guard, has impressed in summer workouts, and the staff believes he would have taken many of [Sidney] Wilson’s minutes.

IDK, I think Michigan State is gonna be pretty good.

If you want to get to the top level of the game, individual opponents become less important and your own performance dictates outcome.  Historically, when we have played a great game, we have not always won.  If we want to reach the top, it means that when we play well, we win.  Period.

We're not at the top level of the game. We've got a ways to go until we get there, actually.

The Huskers toughest opponent this year will be themselves.  Can they exercise past demons and believe they can win and then perform like winners.  The talent is there, can they do what it takes to win!

This may be true, but Kansas is still no slouch
