Now that all of us have migrated to the new board it is time to shut down the old board. We wanted to let you know that we would be shutting it all down this weekend to give you all a chance to recover any posts or information from that board before it went away forever.

Thanks for all if the great times on the old site. Looking forward to even better times here.

Bagpipes fire me up more than any kind of music in the world.  And I truly mean it.

Silverback, if you golf (and even if you don't), you should check out the The Prairie Club just southwest of Valentine.  An authentic Scottish bagpiper stands by the 18th green in full regalia each night toward dusk and plays a few songs.  Looking out over the Snake River canyon, cocktail in hand, viewing a colorful sandhills sunset, listening to the bagpiper--it doesn't get any better than that.

The Prairie Club is in a pretty nice spot, and they spent a TON of money on its construction, doing little (yet expensive) things like having the power line that runs next to highway 97 buried along the boundary of their property so as to ensure as pristine a view from the club as possible.

BTW, that's about the only way you're gonna know you are near the club, because there are no signs at the turnoff from the highway and there is virtually no part of the course that is visible from the highway.

Also, it's very near to Merritt Reservoir, which offers plentiful recreation opportunities in itself, such as the Nebraska Star Party  http://www.nebraskastarparty.org which is apparently one of the bigger stargazing events there is.

(and a person hasn't lived until they've witnessed a clear night in the sandhills during a new moon, the milky way is bright enough to almost read by...truly breathtaking)
