AW-III IS BACK FOR HIS SENIOR SEASON (SOMEWHERE)

Recommended Posts

Question. Not big into the NBA and the draft so need a ruling here by an expert. So we've all heard that AWIII submitted his name without hiring an agent so he can pull his name out of the draft by the May 25th deadline and return to Nebraska. But does pulling out of the draft by itself guarantee that he's coming back?

I think it's a foregone conclusion that AWIII is not being drafted this year. It seems evident that the only way he could work his way into the league is by garnering the attention of a team as a shooting specialist. And this would be an undrafted free agent type deal, correct? If you pull your name out of the draft can you still come on board with a team and go through their camps to work your way onto the team like TP tried to do last year? Or are you only eligible if you're on the list? Just trying to gauge if May 25 is truly the final day or if AWIII has more time to make his decision.

White is on the record as saying it is either NBA or Nebraska.

Doesnt sound like Grad transfer or Europe are an option... He could just be blowing smoke though.

In order to be a eligible "un-drafted free agent" he would have to enter in to the draft and not be drafted to then get an invite to a camp.

He either keeps his name in or he withdraws... there isn't any wiggle room there.

If he does withdraw, grad transferring is an option for him.

Withdrawing eliminates ALL types of professional basketball, including overseas, right? Which would only allow for a return to Nebraska or Grad transfer.

Yes. Overseas vs the D-League would be a decision he would make after going through the draft process and not being drafted/making a roster.

This seems like the team most capable of telling AWIII "We will take you in the second round"

While it would be awesome to be drafted if you are AW, I dont know if i would want to be drafted by a team with 8 picks... The odds of making that team are slim if you are a second rounder.

I would assume Boston will trade some of those picks.

In the category of, "you can't believe everything you read on the internet," check out these salary and net worth numbers for Terran Petteway:

I find it hard to believe those are accurate numbers.  Not sure how you go from being a college student to a net worth of 4.1 million and not be on an NBA roster.

Methinks Swan would agree with you, kldm. Now, if that were "potential net worth" I'd think it may be a distinct possibility.

It's about as accurate as any start-up firm's valuation. "But if we get 100% of the market share over the next 3 months, we'll be worth billions!" mmhmm...

It doesn't state 'potential' and even then, it's likely as solvent as a wet paper bag.
